Feelin' Frisky?

I never did frequent the discos a lot but I do enjoy some 'heavy beats' every now and then - at home in front of the PC :)

I don't remember when I bumped into Frisky Radio the first time but I've been coming back when ever I feel frisky... So, do you feel frisky too? Have a listen...

Odin on his throne...

Our knowledge of Odin, King of all Viking Gods with his two ravens Hugin and Munin has untill now come only from the texts of the Islandic Sagas.

However, now a small figure has been found in the Viking town of Roskilde depicting Odin on his throne (called Lidskjalv) with his two ravens. This small (2cm high silver piece weighing just 9 grams from around the year 900) is the first ever proof that the Sagas were right about Odin having two ravens.

So, now you also happen to know what those two 'birds' are doing in my viking portrait :)

My viking portrait was painted by the talented and super cute Caroline Martin who also has a huge talent when it comes to dancing :D

iPhone / iPod touch post

Hi. This is just a test of the Squarespace iphone app (using an iPod touch connected to the home wireless network). I'm currently on hiatus, awaiting the arrival of the Sony PMW-EX1R. I have sold much of my old gear to be able to afford this professional camcorder. I should be posting my first EX1R video sometime in January 2010.

South Funen Archipelago // Views from Bjørnø

I spent about six hours on the very small island of Bjørnø this Sunday. My mother went along, so I didn't really shoot that much. We managed to walk around the coastline twice and had lunch at the beach where all the boat footage is shot.

Bjørnø is only about 1.5 square kilometers or 0.58 square miles big. There are 28 inhabitants in 13 houses and another 7 vacation homes. The island has a small kiosk that sells snacks and ice cream, so grocery shopping is done in the town of Fåborg 17 minutes away by ferry (owned and operated by the islanders). The ferry holds 22 people and some bicycles - there are no real roads on Bjørnø. The island is quite hilly - the highest elevation is 24 meters or 79 feet. The hill is called Højbjerg which translates to Tall Mountain :) Many Danish hills are called mountains.

Bjørnø is part of the South Funen Archipelago. An area with many smaller islands which attracts sailors from both Denmark and Germany but also Holland, Sweden and Norway. The ferry in the intro shot is a car ferry to the island of Ærø.

Funen or Fyn in Danish is the island where I live. My home town of Odense is 30 minutes away from Fåborg by car.

I brought my Lenovo netbook along and found that the mobile broadband signal was better here than in downtown Odense. The mobile broadband that I have can manage up to about 7.2 Mbit but mostly never goes any faster than 1.5 Mbit. Nothing beats sitting on top of a hill on tiny Bjørnø and surfing the internet at the same time :)

Alien abduction...

I was bored and in a weird mood...
There's a hidden message, if you know where to look :)

Letus35 Mini
100mm f/2.8 macro

Timelapse (8 minutes compressed to 15 seconds) with a handful of Sony Vegas and Magic Bullet Looks thrown together out of boredom.

---

What I did: (some things might be trivial to you and other things might be new to you).

1: Normal timelapse by compressing footage. Click and hold end of clip, press and hold CTRL while draging the end of the clip to the left. PS: You can do slow motion by draging right in stead.

2: Pan up in a timelapse was done by first cropping the clip to 1280x536 (by clicking the Event pan/crop button). I then used two key frames (one at the start and one and the end) to move the 1280x536 clip up inside the 1280x720 'original' clip.

3: The lens flare is a Sony Vegas Video FX. I animated it by using 4 key frames. I changed the size and location of the flare in each key frame.

4. I used Broadcast Colors Video FX in Sony Vegas to 'fix' blown out / under and over exposed areas.

5: In Sony Vegas, I used a Color Gradient 'skyscape' (under Media Generators). I changed the layer to an 'Overlay' by clicking the 'Compositing Mode' button - on the left side of the layer. The colors change several times in 15 seconds. This is done with key frames. Each color is set to about 50% opacity.

6: In Magic Bullet Looks, I used 'Shutter Streak' (white lines top and bottom) and two 'Star Filters' (at different angles). These effects are animated automatically in MBL depending on how each frame looks.

PS: Remember to right-click all key frames and choose 'Smooth'.
